Christmas Classic Basketball Tournament Rules

 
  • All games are governed by the rules of the MBA (Metro Basketball Association.) Exceptions to the “call-up” rule may be permitted, however approval MUST be obtained by the inviting SLAM coach, and the SLAM Tournament Coordinator and must be in writing.
  • All Juvenile/Midget games will be four ten-minute stop time quarters. All Bantam games will be four eight-minute stop time quarters. Jr. Mini and Mini Games will be 8 shifts of 4 minutes stop time, 4 per half.  Mini Rule Variations of the MBA will apply to games.
  • Mini Games are equal play.  1 shift maximum difference between players.
  • Teams are asked to be on site 30 minutes before game time.
  • If uniforms are similar and the officials require a change. It is the responsibility of the visiting team to make the change.
  • Official’s decisions are final. The tournament committee cannot change an official’s decision.
  • The coach, assistant coaches, and manager are responsible for the conduct of our players in the dressing rooms, school and on the court.
  • No protests will be allowed. 
  • All decisions of the tournament committee are final.
  • Points will be awarded as follows:
 
2 points – win
1 point for a tie
0 points for a loss
 
  • During round-robin play there will be no over-time, games can end in a tie situation.
  • During the medal round, in the event of a tie at the end of regulation time, teams will play five minute overtime periods until a winner is determined.
  • Placing will be determined in the following manner:

In the event teams are tied, the SLAM Tie Break Process will be applied (to follow.)
